SELMA GÜRBÜZ
Creating art in Istanbul and Paris, Selma Gürbüz has held personal and group exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. since 1986. The artist also collaborates with Gallery Apel in Istanbul and Gallery Maeght in Paris and Barcelona.
Knowing both the East and the West, her works embody a profound culture, closer to Eastern expression. Defining the East as a world of sentiments, her paintings and sculptures combine the complexity and openness of the East, always astonishing the West.
Selma Gürbüzs works are recognized by art circles as two-dimensional quests of shadow-figures formed through an erratic sequence of motifs such as the hand, the feet, the eye, and the lips.
