AHMET GÜNEŞTEKIN
Ahmet Güneştekin was born December 22, 1966, in Batman at the Garzan workers camp. His passion for painting started at an early age, and he received his first award when he was nine years old while in the third grade in primary school. Coincidently, at the same age, he became acquainted with oil painting and interested in literature, which nourished his artistic talent. From then on, he painted incessantly.
Ahmet Güneştekin opened his first exhibition during his high school years at his own school. After graduating in 1986, he enrolled in Mimar Sinan University in the Painting Department. After a while, he left the university and returned to Batman to continue working on his art.
In 1991, Ahmet Güneştekin settled in Istanbul, where he established his first studio in Beyoğlu in 1997 and organized many group and personal exhibitions. In 2003, he became a much talked about figure in art circles with his exhibition, 'Colours After Darkness' at the Atatürk Cultural Center. Moreover, he was the art director for Haberci (Reporter), a documentary directed by Coşkun Aral. This versatile artist set a record difficult to match after opening outdoor exhibitions in many cities in Anatolia. In 2005, he completed his project, 'In Search of the Sun.' The works of Ahmet Güneştekin are part of various national and international collections. Additionally, he has received many plaques and awards for his success. He is considered one of the world's most significant painters by art critics today. Ahmet Güneştekin continues working at his studio at Asmalı Mescit in Beyoğlu.
